The Lake Moro Park is a Local Intermunicipal Park established between the administration offices of Angolo Terme and Darfo Boario Terme. The main attraction is the homonymous little lake, which is a precious pearl of the lower Valle Camonica countryside. With the picturesque hamlet of Capo di Lago, it is the destination of those who prefer silence and relaxing in the intermediate seasons, while in the summer it is bustling with those who love diving into the lake or going on a boat tour. The area around the little lake is scarcely populated and for this reason it keeps an outstanding landscape and an evocative natural environment, little affected by human presence. Its rock faces of brown-reddish quartzy stone (Lombard verrucano, locally known as simona stone) are sheer and go deep immediately (this morphology is due to glacial action that gave the lake this shape), favouring the rather dark
colour of its water. The lake is surrounded by green chestnut forests, on its shores grow the characteristic thin marsh cane (Phragmites australis) and on the less sunny slopes the magic florid fern (Osmunda regalis). Beside the naturalistic interest, the Park has cultural relevance for the ancient traditions preserved in it. A bit everywhere there are scattered engraved rocks: some with prehistoric images, others from the Christian and Modern epoch. The water of the lake contains different kinds of fish, among which perch, tench, chub, roundfish and eel. To protect and to appreciate the rich fauna and flora of the area, since 2000 Lake Moro has been included in an intermunicipal natural park, comprising several areas, whose management has been entrusted to the municipality of Angolo Terme.
